I don't know how clear the differences are between these two here in the blog. I was interested to see the color shift in the background. The top image is a fairly faithful conversion from the RAW file out of the camera - the bottom image is the JPG image the camera produced (essentially in camera processing from the RAW file). I used to always shoot in JPG - and indeed that is all that comes out of one of my little cameras. Then I discovered the amazing capabilities of RAW and switched to that. Lately I have had my camera set to do both - it plows thru memory but I've been leaving some just as the JPGs out of camera and tossing a ton of photos and it is much easier to view the JPGs on the computer without locking up - basically saves me a lot of time. I don't know why the camera chose to shift to a redder tone on this one and I think it is less "true" to the colors of the scene.

Here was some playing with macro - my favorite snap is the top image of the spirals in the notebook but in the top 2 photos it is kind of fun to see how you can really isolate the focus. You can get really close with extension tube as you can see - the bottom photo is a dice on the carpet.

We were standing at a street corner and Aidan looked down. Of course I had my trusty camera so snapped a quick pic before the light changed. We then proceeded to have a conversation about our Webster Dictionary for the next couple of blocks...

I saw a photomosaic on a friend's photo site and wondered if there was software out there for me to make one. There was! It is free! and easy! Check out AndreaMosaic yourself if you want to make your own. Here is my first trial. I am not sure how easy it will be to see - you have to really zoom in to appreciate the individual tiles and I'll also upload it to my fotki incase you want to see it larger.
